Commission
Leeds BID wanted to welcome and inspire the city’s residents and visitors during the winter months. The team commissioned us to create a powerful scenic installation to celebrate innovation and industry.
Response
We crafted and designed Spirit, a unique sculpture that would fly over Leeds Train Station’s North Concourse and captivate millions of visitors. Positioned in dynamic forward motion, the iconic, androgynous figure became a symbol of hope for the city.
We illuminated the sculpture to illustrate individual sparks of inspiration, incorporating woven threads to reflect the city’s rich textiles heritage. Suspended gracefully above millions of everyday moments, Spirit inspired the people of Leeds to look ahead – championing the diverse fabric of the city and setting a new precedent for creativity.
