CO-OP LIVE: ‘CITYLINK’ WALKING ROUTE
Desiging and building a public art trail for Co-op Live’s Citylink Walking Route.
Commissioned by Oak View Group, we provided a turnkey creative solution to design, deliver and install an 11-part public art trail leading to Co-op Live, a spectacular new music venue in Manchester City Centre. The 25-minute ‘Citylink’ walking route connects Piccadilly Station to Co-op Live, guiding visitors through the bustling areas of Ancoats, New Islington, and Holt Town.
As part of Co-op Live’s core sustainability messaging, the walking route was designed to encourage concert goers to travel to the venue by foot through an artistically driven and experience focused art trail. Our ambition was to: showcase Manchester as a culturally rich and vibrant city; inject moments of intrigue, colour and joy into the local area; and build excitement and atmosphere in anticipation of the outstanding new music venue that is Co-op Live.
Featuring a 40 metre long mural artwork, a bespoke soundscape designed by a local Manchester-based artist, as well as a glowing light arch and neon M, the trail takes inspiration from city iconography and offers a celebratory experience of art, music and football.
