The Outcome
Tapping into the history and heritage of the travelling circus as a driving theme, we proposed a modular, faceted, internally lit structure of a Victorian Strongman seemingly emerging from the ground. With his head at 5m in diameter and his flexing arm standing at 8m in height holding up inflatable dumbbells at 6m in diameter, this imposing structure became an iconic presence at each Festival site, providing a genuine wow factor.
Deliberately accessible it afforded a tangible link to the band and their GOTR aspirations. An idiosyncratic installation piece, the Strongman captured the mood of the Stopovers, embodying the spirit of GOTR where both performers and audience alike are briefly drawn together in fields across the globe to celebrate and entertain each other.
He has become a much loved member of the Gentlemen of the Road family although you wouldn’t want to steal his lunch!
