SENIOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE – PUBLIC REALM & PLACEMAKING

Salary: £45,000 – £52,000pa (dependent on experience)

Contract Type: Full Time (37.5 hours a week)

Location: Leeds City Centre, UK. Remote UK also possible. 

International Travel: Our studio creates work across the world, and international travel is a key part of the role with key territories being the Middle East and USA

THE ROLE

We are looking for someone to work with the senior team to drive the growth of the studio’s division focusing specifically on creative installations across the Commercial Real Estate, Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Built Environment sectors.

We’re a creative business and we want someone who is as passionate about global architecture, art and the built environment as we are. We want someone who lives and breathes their subject matter, has strong relationships with architects and developers in our target sectors and loves to build long-term relationships, working on cutting edge creative projects.

You will work across the world, with particular focus on the primary markets of the Middle East and the USA, working closely with the Founder, Patrick O’Mahony and Global Head of Business Development, Paul Crick to implement targeted business development activities and drive growth. You will have a strong existing network of contacts across our target sectors and will build a strong pipeline of potential opportunities and will work to convert them into live opportunities for the studio.

Your working week could range from cold outreach to developers, to working with our wider business development team to inform research on prospects, presenting and pitching to potential new clients in person, networking at global conferences, responding to specific RFPs and working with our Global Head of Business Development to inform our wider strategy.


CORE DUTIES

  • Identifying potential new clients and opportunities for the NEWSUBSTANCE studio across the public art, commercial real estate, architecture and landscape architecture sectors, driving opportunities for site-specific creative installations, creative interventions and pavilions.
  • Working with the senior management team to generate leads for the growing creative strategy offering of the studio..
    Growing and developing your and the studio’s network to secure new business.
  • Identifying and attending relevant industry networking events and conferences across the world to develop awareness of the NEWSUBSTANCE studio and grow our network.
  • Securing face-to-face and online meetings with prospects, identifying relevant RFPs and tenders.
  • Working with the Global Head of Business Development and Chief Commercial Officer to drive opportunities through to conclusion, developing quotations and driving the response of RFPs.
  • Pitching to prospective clients with the Global Head of Business Development and/or the Creative Director.
  • Draw detailed briefs from potential clients and provide internal briefings to the NEWSUBSTANCE studio team, supporting and guiding them on responses to briefs to deliver the best result for the client and the studio.
  • Drive knowledge and awareness of the public art, architectural and developer landscape in the NEWSUBSTANCE studio, keeping a hand on the pulse of trends and new opportunities.
    Work with the senior team to nurture, develop and support more junior members of the team in their career development.

KEY EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES

  • 5+ years of experience working in a business development role across the real estate/architecture/built environment landscape, whether in a creative role or otherwise.
  • Strong network within the commercial real estate industry and relationships with architects and developers.
  • Strong written and verbal communicator, with commercial acumen and drive.
  • Highly organised and analytical in approach, with the ability to juggle multiple varied tasks and deadlines simultaneously
  • Able to think strategically (and join the dots to build a complete picture of a situation).
  • Proactive and self-starter, able to work and travel the globe on business independently.
  • Confident, presentable and articulate with the ability to inspire a potential client and present confidently to senior stakeholders at multinational organisations and government bodies.
  • Globally aware, willing to understand the nuances of the USA and Middle East markets.
