NEWSUBSTANCE wins Gold at the International Design Awards 2018

By Paul Crick — February 28, 2019

We’re delighted to win Gold at the 2018 International Design Awards (IDAs) for our immersive art installation ‘Spectra’ at last year’s Coachella Music and Arts Festival.

The jury commented: “Wonderful use of color and light. The images support the project in its multi-colored glory”.

Spectra is a seven-story pavilion that visitors can journey through to experience the Coachella site from a new perspective. The temporary installation was one of the six artworks commissioned for the 2018 Coachella Music and Arts Festival. Spectra’s window panels create a spectrum of colour that spirals up to the sky, embathing its guests with intense colour, and offering vibrant views of the festival as they orbit upwards within the structure. The building also lights up at night and responds visually to the California sunsets.

The IDAs recognise, celebrate and promote legendary design visionaries across Architecture, Interior, Product, Graphic and Fashion Design. We’d like to congratulate all of this year’s winners and are really very honoured to be recognisedin such esteemed company. Thank you!

Spectra will be back at this year’s Coachella, see it for yourself on the 12th – 14th, and 19th – 21st April.

Check out Spectra in its full glory.
