Designing and delivering a key element for the closing ceremony of the Dubai World Cup

We were invited back for a second year to work as an integral part of the M-is team to collaborate and deliver a key element for the opening spectacular to mark the start of the Dubai World Cup.

The Outcome

NEWSUBSTANCE developed and executed two bespoke 9 metre tall, internally lit giant puppets manufactured from an aluminium / fibreglass mix. Each were suspended 1 meter off the ground from a 25 ton rough-terrain crane and animated using ropes by a ground based crew of 6 per puppet. These impressive ‘Alchemists’ fulfilled the spectacular’s narrative, top and tailing the parade for HRH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
